Tips
What to wear
Friday 3rd October
Come as you are, Friday night will be relaxed and easy. We know many of you will be fresh off planes, trains, and boats, so there’s no dress code at all. But if you have a pair of Friulane, why not slip them on?
Saturday 4th October
Gentlemen are invited to wear a morning suit. If unavailable, a dark blue suit with a tie is also appropriate
Ladies, we suggest elegant dresses, either midi or floor-length (just no white or black, please!). As the ceremony will take place in church at 4:00 PM, we kindly ask you to dress respectfully - if your shoulders are bare, don’t forget to bring a shawl or something to cover up during the service.
Please keep in mind that, (weather permitting) the cocktail will be held outdoors. As October weather in Venice can be quite variable, we recommend checking the forecast closer to the date. The rest of the evening will take place indoors.
How to get there
Venice can easily be reached by Plane, Train or Car.
By plane
Venice Marco Polo Airport is ~30 minutes by boat from the city center.
- Private Water Taxis: ~150–180€ (max 10 people per boat).
- Alilaguna Water Buses (18€):
- Orange Line: Stops at Rialto, S. Angelo, Ca’ Rezzonico, S. Maria del Giglio. Last boat: 12:25 AM.
- Blue Line: Stops at Murano, San Marco, Giudecca & more. Last boat: 12:20 AM.
- Land Transport: Taxis and Bus (Line 5) are available to Piazzale Roma.
By train
Arrive at Venezia Santa Lucia Train Station, located in the city. Dorsoduro and Rialto are easily reachable on foot (~25 min), by Vaporetto, or Water Taxi.
By car
Cars must be parked outside the city:
- Piazzale Roma: Closest to the center. Check Garage Comunale or Garage San Marco.
- Mestre: Cheaper option. Park near the train station (e.g., Parcheggio Stazione, Saba) and take a train or ACTV bus to Venice.
Getting around Venice
The easiest way to get around Venice is: walk!
Or use the Vaporetto (waterbus) – download the CheBateo app to plan routes.
Private water taxis (50–80€ for short trips) are also available. For evenings, we recommend booking taxis in advance via:
Where to stay
Please find a list of hotels in Venice located close to the venue on Saturday.
We strongly recommend booking in advance as availability is limited. Where available, we have included discount codes.
Alternatively we suggest checking out airbnb for more options (and often better prices, especially when shared in larger groups!)
We know hotels in Venice aren’t always easy to find so please do not hesitate to reach out to Olimpia and Gregorio for any questions or help with your reservations - we have plenty of advice!

Activities and Sightseeing:
Venice has so much to offer, and we hope you’ll have time to enjoy some of its magic while you’re here. Whether you’re in the mood for a full day of sightseeing and a quick bite, or prefer a more relaxed schedule lunching by the canal and shopping for friulane, here are some of our favorite spots near the wedding.
If it’s your first time in Venice, you have to start with the classics: walk in Piazza San Marco, cross the Rialto Bridge, and glide down the Grand Canal in a gondola or water taxi - it’s touristy, yes, but completely worth it!
Places to Visit in the area:
- Museo Fortuny - One of Olimpia’s favourite museums in the city: a historic Venetian palazzo showcasing the eclectic art, design, and collections of Mariano Fortuny.
- Collezione Peggy Guggenheim - on view: Maria Helena Vieira da Silva: Anatomy of a Space - an exhibition celebrating one of the most original figures of 20th-century art.
- Negozio Olivetti | Bene FAI - A little architectural gem tucked under the Procuratie in Piazza San Marco. Designed by Carlo Scarpa in the 1950s for Olivetti typewriters, it's one of our favourite hidden places in Venice
- Fondazione Prada - Must see immersive exhibition project by Christoph Büchel
- Punta della Dogana and Palazzo Grassi - Visit Tatiana Trouvé’s exhibition The Strange Life of Things at Palazzo Grassi and Thomas Schütte’s Genealogies at Punta della Dogana (one ticket gives you access to both shows!)
- Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca’ d’Oro - Visit this recently restored and breathtaking Gothic Palazzo
- Biennale d’Archiettura 2025 - Padiglione Italia and Arsenale.
- Gallerie dell'Accademia di Venezia - Bellini to Tintoretto all under one roof. Don't miss the rare opportunity to see Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man, on view for the first time in six year.
- Squero San Trovaso - Traditional Boat Yard where Gondolas are still built by hand
Where to Shop
Friulane:
The traditional Venetian slipper - the friulana - was born in 19th-century Friuli, in northern Veneto. In the post-war period, Italian families crafted these shoes by stitching together remnants of sumptuous theatre curtains and repurposed bicycle tyres. Versatile, chic, and - crucially - non-slip, the design proved perfect for navigating Venice’s cobbled streets and soon became a symbol of la dolce vita around the world.
- Friulane Dittura - The traditional Friulane
- Teod’amar - Quirky Friulane with tassels and feathers and other fun things
- Piedàterre Venezia - The Traditional Friulane with refined twist.
- Alessandra Venezia - Fabulous Moccasins and classic Friulane
Markets:
- Rialto Fish Market - Venetians have been shopping here since 1907 - we definitely recommend a trip.
- Mercatino di San Maurizio - Antiques market where you might find some fabulous vintage murano glass!
Historic and traditional shops:
- Evem sas - Ricami e merletti - Great for children’s clothes and Burano Lace
- Drogheria Mascari - Venice’s oldest specialty food shop (Good for souvenirs).
- Gianni Basso Stampatore - Beautiful handcrafted stationary
- Relight Venice - Young designers with a passion for sustainability - (Good for Souvenirs).
Glass:
- Laguna~B | Glassware | Classics - Striped, hand-blown, and unmistakably Venetian
- Giberto Venezia - Striped, hand-blown, and unmistakably Venetian
- Yali Glass -
- Micheluzzi Glass
- I Vetri di Amadi Bruno - Watch master artisan Bruno Amadi craft delicate glass animals in his tiny Venetian workshop.
